Having a good attitude while working

As some of you probably know, I was away working at the Word of Life Ranch in Pottersville, NY this summer.
While I was there I made a ton of new friends, learned more about God’s word, heard some of
the best biblical scholars from around the country, and more.

I also had the privilege of working in the dish room. My main job was to
load the dish washing machine. While it was fun at first, it did start
to get very monotonous after the second or third week; so one of the
biggest things I learned about working this summer is to have a good
attitude about it.

My question to you is, do you have a good attitude while you’re
working?

One thing I observed was that work was always more fun and got
done more quickly when I had the right attitude about it. Whenever I would
start thinking “Oh man, I wish I wasn’t stuck in this hot room washing
all this junk off kids plates”  or “Who cares if I do a good job, I’m
not getting paid” things seemed to go slower and seemed even more boring
and monotonous.  But when I had a good attitude and
thought about how washing dishes was my ministry and how it was
effecting those 300+ campers and staff it made work so much more
enjoyable. >From now on when those pessimistic thoughts start creeping
into my head and give me a bad attitude, I remember 1 Corinthians 10:31,
“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory
of God.” So next time you start having those thoughts, I encourage you to
do the same.
